Dr. Dawn-joy Leong is a proudly Autistic, transdisciplinary artist-researcher, and keynote speaker, whose work has been showcased in the U.K., Austria, Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, China and Singapore. She is a Fellow of the prestigious Salzburg Global Seminar, and a member of the Editorial Board of Neurodiversity, Sage Journals. Her areas of research and arts practice include multisensory Autistic empathy, and unique Autistic connectivities with the non-human natural realm. Dawn-joy’s current major project is “Lucy Like-a-Charm,” a multi-media memoir-fantasy about an Autistic woman and a Greyhound dog on a magical journey towards Becoming. Created in honour of Lucy Like-a-Charm, her late Assistance Dog and beloved closest companion, and supported by the John and Lorna Wing Foundation (UK), this work’s mission is to inspire others to embrace different ways of Being, face life’s challenges with creative spirit, boldly reach for all that life has to offer, and thrive.
