PSYCHOTHERAPY/ COUNSELLING

Counselling

Counselling is considered a form of 'talk therapy' or guidance approach where it allows the clients to discuss difficult events or emotions they may be experiencing in a safe and confidential environment. It is an avenue to guide our clients in uncovering a deeper understanding of themselves or the situation they are experiencing. Counselling encompasses both choice and change, with the process evolving through distinct stages such as exploration, goal setting, and action  (Brammer, 1993; Egan, 1990) within an integrated framework of therapeutic approaches (Norcross & Beutler, 2014). The counselling process with the Practice will be flexibly tailored based on the unique needs, contexts, and cultural background of the individual (Wampold, 2001).

Challenging behaviours are often formed or reinforced by underlying emotions. Having the training in counselling allows us to address the psychological/ mental health factors while helping to develop coping skills.
